I am on my way this afternoon to Scotland and England. On June 3rd, I will present a Confederate Medal of Honor to Dr. David Herbert Llewellyn of the CSS Alabama at Marlborough College. This is quite an honor for me and the college to recognize the doctor's heroism. As the Alabama was sinking, he helped the wounded into the two remaining life boats. He refused to take the last seat for fear of capsizing the drastically overcrowded boat. He never told anyone he could not swim. He saved others by sacrificing his own life.
